Overcoming Nerves
Health Advice - On the day you take your Final Assessment it is advisable to:
- Have a good night's sleep the night before
- Eat breakfast or lunch. This may help calm your nervous stomach and give you energy. Avoid greasy or acidic foods, and avoid overeating
- Exercise. Nothing reduces stress more than exercise. An hour or two before an assessment, stop studying and go for a workout: swimming, jogging, cycling, aerobics.
Before the final assessment
- Allow yourself enough time to take the assessment, making sure you have a little time to spare
- Make sure you have done your revision and feel confident you can answer the questions
- Stop reading and studying at least one hour before you undertake your Final Assessment
During the final assessment
- Answer the easy questions first. This will relax you and help build your confidence, plus give you some assured points
- Make sure the environment is relaxed and warm, but not stuffy; an open window may help. Make sure you have enough light
- Don't be upset if you finish the tests before the time is up. What time you have left, check your answers and make sure you have answered all questions
- If you still feel nervous during the test, try this: inhale deeply, close your eyes, hold, then exhale slowly. Repeat as needed.
