This course consists of four modules:
Explores the legal classification of medicines as well as other related legislation and regulatory requirements. The module also explores the importance of local policies and procedures and their role in ensuring medicine administration standards are maintained.
Examines the main groups of medicines in use to treat symptoms and conditions. For each group of medicines we explore how they work and identify some common examples that are in use today. This module also explores the main routes for medicine administration as well as the range of medicine reactions and contraindications.
Focuses on best and safe practice for the administration of medicines. It explores the importance of risk assessment in determining the safety of administration. The module explores, in detail, safe methods for administering and recording the administration of medicines.
Considers the purpose of audit in managing and handling medicines in care establishments. The module also examines what actions to take in the event of medicine administration errors, as well as actions that can be taken to prevent errors occurring.
