Course Description

This course is designed for care workers who, as part of their job role, come into contact with individuals suffering from diabetes. This online course will enhance knowledge and understanding in the field of diabetes in relation to:

• Signs and causes of hypoglycaemia and hyperglycaemia
• Differences between Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes
• Symptoms and diagnosis of diabetes
• Range of treatments
• Monitoring of the diabetic condition
• Understanding the major complications of uncontrolled diabetes
• Healthy lifestyle management

The course provides an introductory overview to diabetes. It focuses on the person with diabetes and how they can make informed choices in relation to treatment and lifestyle.

The course will appeal to individuals from a variety of backgrounds, including people with diabetes, health care workers and anyone interested in learning more about the condition.

To further embed this new and often complex learning BYTSYZ has included a number of care related exercises to encourage:
